Pack Up and Leave!

Saturday, 16 April 2011

Packing is the hardest job for me to do. This trip was supposed to be a 'light' trip, and that what makes it hard for me, to choose what to bring. Salute for people who can travel light.
For this trip, i prepared 1 thick jacket, medium jacket and cardigan. plus some long pants and thirts and scarfs, one pair of shoes and sandals. Some currencies: won, US$, THB, SIN$, and MYR. I learned that it's better to bring US $ than won, then exchange it later when you need in the country.  i also bring my own coffee sachets and Milo, because the places i was going to stay might not have the kind of coffee i like.

I woke up at 2.05 am and took the 3 am bus to Soekarno-Hatta airport. The airport bus from Bogor now starts at 2.40 the earliest. The bus arrived in an hour, 4am and waiting for my partner trip, Tisa, who arrived 30 minutes later. We used Airasia (love it!), cheap flight. It took me around 3 millions rupiah return (Jkt-KL-Incheon return).

The flight to Incheon, Seoul, was not until 13ish, but i left early because i had to transfer flight in Kuala Lumpur. That's what made the trip longer. Well, that made me able to eat nasi lemak and teh tarik, my favourite Malaysian meals. At the airport, there was a restaurant called The Taste Of Asia, nasi lemak is MYR 7, teh tarik is MYR 3.80.

On board, i got the hot seat, but it was really 'hot', a.k.a crowded. So, finally i decided to give up my hot seat and took 3 regular seats for myself. 3 SEATS for MYSELF! i was able to strecth out my feet, one of the best part being short ;-).

So, the plane landed 25 minutes earlier! Yes! i like Airasia even more. My friend, Karen and Ilhwan picked us up and couldn't believe that our flight was 25 minutes earlier.

Karen gave Tisa and me a transportation card (T money) which is used to pay the subway and bus around the country (except KTX). You can top it up with cash in the top up machines or 7 Eleven shops. After use, you can get the left over deposit money you have in the card.

From Incheon airport we took subway and transfer to the subway which will pass Noksopyeong station. For more detail, you can take the subway map in the airport or tourist information. Yup, the first thing you should get after getting off the plane are: The maps (Seoul map, subway map) and the transportation card.

While you are in Incheon airport, you should use the toilet here, it's the cleanest toilet i ever been!!! FYI, Incheon airport has been the best airport in the world for the 6th times!!! If you have time in the airport, you can have a tour.

eating places are easily found, especially if you don't have any limitation on your food. The price is varied, starts at 1000 won (street snacks).

So, my first day was spent on the way from Jakarta to Seoul.
